The exhibition features two notable series:
Re-cast
This collection includes individual concrete blocks that resemble architectural elements. These pieces can be displayed individually or in groups, engaging with themes of memory and the fragmented nature of our recollections of built spaces. When assembled, the blocks can form various functional items such as tables and seats, or they can stand alone as sculptures. This series invites viewers to explore and customize the relationship between parts and the whole.
Sanctum
This series showcases meticulously crafted tabletop sculptures that depict iconic stepwells of India. The history of stepwells reflects the subcontinent’s unique relationship with water, where periods of intense rainfall are interspersed with dry spells, necessitating sophisticated systems for rainwater harvesting as well as accessing underground water. Over time, these structures evolved into complex architectural feats with symbolic, religious, and political significance.
